Life is good

My sister called today on behalf of my three year old nephew. It seems he is uspet at home because they only read him two stories before bed and the one weekend he stayed here, we read three books each night. My sister said he could move in with me then. He agreed and told my sister to tell me that he would be here in a few days. I love that kid.

We are reengergized in our wedding planning. We have virtually given up on getting married on Lake George. We are currenty looking at ski resorts near where we met. Soooo...we wait until we can look at them, but I am excited about both places. It seems no one is reading my blog anyway, so there is no harm in sharing the websites.

Let us know what you think. I swear we will figure this out soon.

Things here are crazy. Camp is ending this week. That has been one long, crazy, exhausting, fun adventure. I am sad that I don't think I will be able to work it next year. It really has been a blast. On the other hand I am equally excited about my next "assignment" at work...toddler teacher. That starts next Tuesday. Not a lot of "phone booth time", if you will. That's okay though. I haven't been this excited about work, for this long a period of time since Nature's Classroom. It feels good.

in all honesty..

I want to elope.

I know people laugh when I say this, but it is true. When I think about my ideal party with all my friends and family I picture bonfire, acoustic guitar, jeans and sweatshirts. That is what I want. However, none of that screams wedding reception. Instead I am expected to where white and eat fancy foods and walk around like a princess. I am not a princess. I feel like my wedding is going to be a lot like my proms. Dinner, dancing and me spending the whole miserable evening wondering when I get to stop pretending I am having fun, change into more comfortable clothes and start drinking (sorry mom). Why not cut to the chase and just start the party, comfortably.

Okay. I am ranting. But we went back to our original first choice on Saturday and it was awful. New wedding planner, new wedding packages. We liked it because it was different...now it is so generic we might as well get married at the Holiday Inn. The second place we saw tonight was nice, but it was a wedding factory. It hosts multiple weddings per day, has no place for our guest to stay and has the ugliest carpet I have ever seen. ( I am not sure why banquet halls have ugly carpet, but they all do...this one: teal with pink flowers). It did have beautiful views though. So if you don't mind that someone else getting married during your reception or vise versa the pictures will be gorgeous.

Thanks for letting me vent. We will continue to keep you posted.

PS I passed my last teacher test. I can officially apply for my NY license...

Love is patient, my sister isn't

Okay, we have a couple more appointments this weekend and early next week. We will make a decision. We promised the grandparents we wouldn't return until we had some firm plans and we would really like to visit them again in two weeks.

I would love people's opinion on the final three reception sites, but I occasionaly get comments from random people and would rather send you the links via email. No need to have strangers knowing too much information.  So if you are interested... let me know.

Things are slow otherwise. I am working a lot and Dave is trying (rather unsuccessfully) to not work very much at all. The summer season is ending and both of us are anxious to see what the fall brings.

Let the fun begin

Okay. Enough is enough. We WILL make decisions soon. No more procrastinating. This WILL be fun and we WILL enjoy making decsions, even if being decisive is something neither of us has tried before.
